About Ken Rogers
An Ordinary Life. An Extraordinary Journey.
Ken Rogers has always believed that some of life’s most meaningful moments begin with a simple decision to say yes.
In 1982, that yes looked like leaving behind a normal routine, quitting his job as the number one salesman in his company during the midst of a deep recession, getting on a bicycle, and setting out with his friend Steve Anderson to ride across all 48 contiguous United States. They had little cycling experience, no major corporate sponsorship, no GPS or cellphones, and no certainty about what would happen along the way.
What began as a personal adventure became something much bigger.
Over more than 10,000 miles, Ken and Steve encountered physical exhaustion, unexpected setbacks, generous strangers, difficult weather, unforgettable landscapes, and countless moments that tested their resolve. That resoluteness was fueled by their decision to help make dreams come true for children suffering with critical illnesses. That call to action by local radio talk show host Dick Pomerantz was the embryo for Make-A-Wish MN, the second chapter in history. This gave their ride the purpose beyond themselves.
That experience became the foundation for Pedaling On Purpose, a story about courage, friendship, perseverance, faith, and what can happen when ordinary people are willing to step into something extraordinary.
More Than a Bicycle Journey
For Ken, the ride was never just about crossing state lines.
It became a lesson in endurance. In trust. In humility. In friendship. In learning to keep moving when the road ahead felt uncertain.
Those lessons stayed with him long after the bicycles were put away.
Throughout his life, Ken has continued to carry the same message: purpose is not reserved for a select few. It is found in the decisions we make, the people we serve, the risks we are willing to take, and the way we respond when life does not go according to plan.
Through his books and speaking, Ken invites others to consider what it looks like to live intentionally, pursue meaningful dreams, persevere through difficulty, and recognize that one life can make a lasting difference.
Author. Speaker. Storyteller.
Ken is the author of Pedaling On Purpose and shares his story with churches, schools, organizations, businesses, community groups, and audiences looking for a message of hope, courage, perseverance, and purpose.
His style is personal, honest, humorous, and grounded in real experience. Rather than speaking from theory, Ken shares lessons learned through adventure, hardship, friendship, faith, and decades of reflection.
At the heart of every message is a simple idea:
You do not have to be extraordinary to live an extraordinary life. You just have to be willing to live on purpose.
Beyond the Story
Ken’s greatest legacy is not simply the miles he traveled or the books he has written. It is the way he has chosen to live those lessons in everyday life — as a husband, dad, grandfather, friend, and encourager to those around him.
The journey may have started on two wheels, but the message has always been bigger than the ride.
Keep moving. Keep believing. Keep living on purpose.
