Judy Hallgren gave me a copy of your book when she came to Thailand with me on a two-week tour this past Fall. She is so proud of your journey and of the inspirational words you share with all of us who have the honor to read your story...THANK YOU!

Thank you for your candidness. Thank you for the humor, disappointment, the determination, the honesty. Thank you for believing in yourself and in something far greater than yourself. Thank you for being an inspiration!

I had the opportunity to read your book while in Thailand and was then able to pass it on to a fellow traveler. May your words be a source of strength for all of us.

I had a blast reading your book. It was embarrassing to be both crying and laughing out loud on an airplane, but not embarrassing enough to make me put down the book. Thank you.

I absolutely loved the book!! I am not a person that reads many books (more newspapers & magazines) but this captured my interest from the first page. After I started it I couldn't put it down. That took some real guts & internal fortitude to accomplish what you guys did. Congratulations on the friendships you have built that will last forever!!

Ken...Pedaling on Purpose was a big help during the first few days home as I tried to forget what I was facing (Devic's Disease)and looked at what mountains, literally, that you and Steve had to climb to get through your journey. It's all about choices isn't it, as we choose if we're going to be happy or sad, fearful or faithful. Thanks...

I thoroughly enjoyed your adventures and wish I could do something as meaningful and fun as you did. It was very inspirational. Maybe I'll think of something I can do at my age that would be as selfless as what you two did. Loved meeting you and really admire your fortitude. No experience, no training, and you made it; you made your goal. Hope to meet you again sometime.

Well, I finished your book last night (I say "your" because Steve's storytelling seems to be just as relevant and present as Ken's.)...the hide-and-seek episode in the haunted house was especially fun for me, as was the photo of Steve at the one "Welcome To" sign, where you're draped over the sign with your back side hanging down and your arms outstretched. The thing I was probably most impressed with was your sense of humor (both of you) and your optimism. I can certainly relate to this. I especially appreciated Ken's statement at the end about surrounding one's self with dreamers and optimists and positive thinkers. I could not agree more. I also REALLY like his observation regarding spending more time outdoors. I wholeheartedly agree with this too, and I am happiest when I am outdoors, I don't care what time of year it is.. There is just something so grounding about being outside in nature, where "the big picture" seems to reign. It always reminds me that my petty problems are even PETTIER when I get outside and realize the magnificence of God's divine plan and the beauty of His earth, and the fact that everything is out of my control (thank goodness), so why worry? It doesn't help to worry anyway, so why bother? :)

Just wanted to let you know again how much fun this book was, and I do look forward to the Mississippi River mis-adventure, so please let me know when that book is ready!

Ken and Steve...I just finished reading your book! I fully agree that the most outstanding part of your trip was the people that you encountered along the way. I admire your “superhuman” efforts in completing this journey, but the spiritual and physical support you received from others seemed to make it all possible. The types of people that you describe in your story provide the inspiration for a peaceful and productive society which will persevere through economic difficulty or political conflict.

Congratulations on completing your great adventure!

I received your book on Saturday and by Sunday morning I had finished it. What an inspiring read! I deeply enjoyed it - what a truly amazing thing you and Steve did, especially with Steve's issues with colitis along the way. Your story was simply terrific and I am sure it will help me through many difficult times throughout the upcoming summer. Please expect a package from me sometime toward the end of the summer - I haven't yet decided what will be in it, but I hope I can show my thanks for your inspirational story in some small way.

What an inspiring adventure! I just loved your book and the tale of a truly life changing experience. After reading your story I felt as if I could conquer anything and everything I have ever dreamed of doing. I also believe that God puts people and books in our path for a reason and Ken you being someone whom I met after only being in Minnesota for a short time just validates my faith even more. You are a truly unique and special person and this story of your triumph tells that to all. Thanks for pedaling on purpose and sharing it with me!!!

Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed reading your book, Pedaling on Purpose. You and Steve did a great job describing the trip - your friendship, your loyalty, your faith was just as important as the actual bicycling adventure. I felt inspired by what you did, but also by those who gave friendship, food and money for your cause.

You challenged yourself, you did it and that can never be taken away from you.

I wish that I could have stood by the road as you went through the Binghamton NY area. Even if you couldn't have stopped, I would have cheered for you.

Your book was terrific! Thanks so much for writing it.

I finally finished your book a few days before I went back to England. It was a wonderful read Kenny. Your descriptions of physical exhaustion were so good, that at times while reading them I felt my own legs were tired and my back ached! I wonder if sometimes you look back and wonder if you really did actually do it? It was an amazing achievement for someone who had no training and just shows that if you have determination anything is possible; the human body is an amazing machine. I hope that before we leave the US, we can visit some of the amazing places you described on the East Coast, somewhere we have never been but always wanted to. Now after reading your book I want to go there even more.

I hope that now you have renewed your contact with us all here, that we see lots more of you and you are included in some of our fun events as well.

Take care and please keep in touch.

Your book has left me in tears of amazement, honor and inspiration. There are many good-hearted people in today's world. I know that God puts powers in certain peoples hearts and my friend he has put something inside of you. You are and forever will always be an Angel in God's eyes for what you and Steve have done for those kids. I am a Program Coordinator for REM River Bluffs. I work with people with Mental retardation and other disabilities and also sicknesses. Having this kind of career I have seen first hand people that are very sick. I can't tell you enough, or even try to explain the true emotions of how proud I am of you and Steve. You both have done something that is truly remarkable and touching...I live my life helping people because it's something that gives me love inside my heart. Your book is one of a kind. It is by far the most touching and amazing book I have ever read. When you started on your journey you made FEAR what it truly is...Fake-Emotion's-Appearing-Real. You have strengthened that saying many times in your book and I am sure many times in your life as well. There are two stories that have truly moved me to a higher level of consciousness in my life. First is yours and second is the Story of Chris McCandless and his journey to Alaska to find himself...God Bless.

As I started reading this book, this incredible adventure, I could hear Ken's voice like he was in the room telling me this wonderful story. I have been blessed to have had Ken in my life for over 40 years (Tommy Mac, Scotty, Ken and I have been friends since grade school days) and to this day the love between us is ever so strong, so Ken I thank you for that. I could not put the book down. I pulled out my Rand McNally map and followed this story, wishing I was with them. I could picture Ken with no biking experience, but with courage and faith made this leap from corporate America to do something that we all wish we could do. The book is a warm, feel good story that brings out the goodness in people all over this country. Ken, your humor, Steve your perseverance made this book a joy to read.

I hope someday to meet you Steve. Ken, thanks for the inspiration and love you give to all.

This journey of two individuals (Ken and Steve) is full of enthusiasm, with a purpose and a destination in mind. It was a pleasure to take this emotional trip with you through reading the book. The comments that you both have received are truly representative of this story. May God Bless you both as you continue on Life’s Journey!
